Women's Challenge: March 6 registration discount and ALaVie Fitness bonuses

The next 3-day Women's Sailing Challenge is May 14-17, 2009. The Tall Ship Academy is offering a $300 discount to sailors registering for the Challenge before March 6, 2009.

No sailing experience is necessary! Proceeds from the Women's Challenge support the Tall Ship Semester for Girls scholarship fund. The normal cost to participate in the Women's Challenge is $1,500 (which can either be paid directly to TSEA (partial tax deducation) or participants can fundraise on behalf of the Academy and meet that goal.) but sign up today and your cost will be $1,200.

In addition, ALaVie Fitness, the Bay Area's leader in outdoor fitness boot camps, is sponsoring the Tall Ship Education Academy's Women’s Challenge participants by offering their boot camp program as cross-training at a discounted rate. Join the May Challenge and cross-train with AlaVie to experience a new physical and emotional challenge; become part of a team of women working towards common goals. Contact Heather at heather@alaviefitness.com for more information about discounts for Women's Challenge participants.

TSSG 2008 Student Film shown at San Francisco Ocean Film Festival

The San Francisco Ocean Film Festival is happening this weekend at the Cowell Theater in Fort Mason Center. Friday (2/20), the Festival dedicates itself to the education of young people, inviting them to the Festival free of charge. This year, the Tall Ship Semester for Girls film was selected to be shown during this Friday session.

The Tall Ship Semester for Girls 2008 film was a collaborative effort among all of the students in that program. Myeshia Holmes, Karry Araujo and Ellissia Hill attended the Festival, representing their 2008 crew of filmakers. They fielded questions for the audience and talked about their experience building teamwork on a 130 foot schooner. Many thanks to these students for taking time to attend the Festival, and to the Ocean Film Festival for choosing our film!
